The New Year began in magnificent style as Town bowed out of the FAC at Highbury after a superb performance in a 1-2 defeat in Round 4. By May Town had risen to 3rd in the table and faced Peterborough United in the League One Play-Off Final at Old Trafford, Manchester, where manager Lee Clark opted for the raw talent of Arsenal loanee Benik Afobe ahead of the proven goal scoring of Jordan Rhodes. The resultant 0-3 capitulation did not go down well with the fans. Yet more summer recruitment had Town challenging again in August although a 1st Round FAC battering at Swindon did little to allay the fans’ fears.

A continuation of the set begun last year and these were to be stuck onto a large wall chart which would chart Town’s progress over the season. Strangely there were no stickers covering the three Play-Off games. You will be lucky to find any of these nowadays although at the time they sold for about £1.00 as I recall.

Once again the club produced a set of player cards which were designed to be used like the popular ‘Top Trumps’ sets of the time. The difference was that this time there was a ‘chaser’ or bonus set featuring Town Legends – and a dreadful ‘error’ card! These cards cost me £1.00 each but you will be very lucky indeed if you find any anywhere – I’ve never seen any since they were issued.
And here’s the error card – corrected in the set above – that I promised you at the start of this set, but can YOU spot the error?
And finally, this ‘Terry’ card was a bonus issue on the last game of 2011, Town vs Carlisle Utd.
